In 2001, Oxford University and Cambridge University students founded The Oxford Exchange (OEX) as a think tank specialising in foreign and home policy analysis, political campaigning, and international relations writ large. Our clients included world leaders, government institutions (NASA, US Department of Defense, British Parliament), and corporations seeking insight into global trends.
The firm eventually evolved into a training and educational organisation and the founders served as professors of security studies at the US Department of Defense's Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu, Hawaii educating over 1,000 military personnel and diplomats from over 40 countries around the world.
In 2019, the founders relocated the business back in the UK and served in various consulting roles at the University of Oxford (Diplomatic Studies Programme) and at a London think tank. In 2021, the United States Air Force requested bespoke policy and area studies courses for USAF Officers stationed in Europe. We hired top university professors in the UK, secured VIP Guest speakers like General David Petraeus, and delivered a week-long course.
The Oxford Exchange now owns and operates three different, but related, organisations: The Cambridge Exchange (residential courses in Cambridge, England), the Oxford IQ Preparatory Academy (residential courses for pre-university students aged 13-18), and The Oxford Exchange (residential courses in Oxford for adults).
Unlike many of our competitors, our founders and the majority of our team hold degrees from, and teach at Cambridge University and/or Oxford University. As alumni, we know Cambridge and Oxford, we teach or manage programmes within the universities' systems, and soon we have first right of refusal on booking the best Cambridge and Oxford Colleges for residential courses.

At The Cambridge Exchange, we believe that education should be engaging, practical, and relevant to real-world situations. Our approach combines classroom learning with hands-on experience, allowing our students to apply what they learn in a supportive and collaborative environment.
In the nearly 40 courses that we have facilitated over the last decade, we have never had a lower rating than a 97/100. Most of our students are used to living in a transactional world. Our courses are 'relational' and we seek to not only empower and educate our students, but also connect them.
